Life can be tough! The Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church Counseling Ministry is dedicated to help all kinds of people through life’s struggles. Life is filled with predictable but challenging transitions like parenting, surviving adolescence, empty nesting, becoming a grandparent, retirement, moving . . . just to name a few. The list seems endless. Sometimes life throws us a curve and we have difficulty coping with death, addictions, adultery, serious illnesses and other life crises. Whether you need counseling as an individual, marital, family or for children, we are standing by to help. Please reach out and call – we are ready and willing to help you find solutions and relief.
Here’s our mission: We are helpers who guide people to the ultimate healer, God. By integrating biblical principles with counseling, we utilize basic elements of the Christian faith: confession, forgiveness, mercy and grace – all essential components to better living. We strive to create an environment of grace where people in our congregation and the community may experience acceptance, encouragement, redirection, hope for change, and a vision for Gods power and purpose in their lives.

Paracletes
What is a Paraclete? (“Pare-uh-cleet”). The Paraclete program at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church is a volunteer, lay counseling ministry with two important parts:
1) the training and commissioning of lay counselors, and
2) providing lay counseling ministry to the community at no charge.
The Paraclete lay counseling ministry is firmly rooted in Christian values, ethics, and principles and is based on the idea that all Christians are the ministers of the church. A Paraclete comes alongside an individual and use helping and problem solving skills—all the while remembering that Christ is the Healer. Here’s another benefit of the Paracletes: These trained lay leaders provide additional support to the pastoral staff by reaching more people in the congregation and in the community.
Think you might benefit from a trained and caring Paraclete? Give us a call in the congregational care office and we’ll put you in touch with the right folks.
